The death of an Eliab Gifford aged 73 on November 5, 1875 was reported in the Troy Daily Whig on November 8, 1875, page 3.1,4. According to several NY and US Censuses in Troy, he was a stone cutter, born in Massachusetts. The DAR did not record a headstone for him in their survey. The death notice or the Troy Burial Records could be checked to see if they indicate where he was buried.
