Gene's life began on December 15, 1931 in Lewis, KS, the son of Harry and Pearl (Dugger) Adams. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1954. Gene served his country in the United State Air Force. Gene was united in marriage to Leigh "Teddy" Gordon on August 23, 1953, who precedes him in death and later married to the former Vicki Starkel on January 8, 2009 in Maui. Gene was retired as the President of Walnut Valley State Bank (Commerce Bank). Gene was a member of the El Dorado Kiwanis Club, El Dorado Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, Kansas Bankers Association, and the breakfast club at True Lies. Faith was important to Gene and he served as Senior Warden on the Vestry Board at Trinity Episcopal Church and had served as Junior Ward when the church building was built. His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife Vicki of El Dorado, children Steve ( Lisa) Adams of Lenexa and David (Sandra) Adams of El Dorado, grandchildren Sarah Adams of Fallbrook, CA, Timothy Adams of Lenexa, Alicia (Mikeal) Knipp of Andover, and Kelli ( Kyle) Johnson of Augusta, great grandchildren Kynleigh Knipp, Avery Knipp, and Reid Johnson. Gene passed away on August 15, 2015 in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his first wife Teddy, daughters Judy, Sandra and Susan and brother Harry Dean Adams. His family will gather with friends for memorial services on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church led by Mother Christine Gilson. Kirby – Morris Funeral Home is serving the family.
