JoAnn Adams, the beloved and cherished wife of William C. “Bill” Adams, died at 10:03 p.m. on August 16, 2015. She was born in Cincinnati, OH, the oldest child of J. Howard and Jane Mary (Laufersweiler) Loftus, on August 11, 1932. She graduated from The Nativity School in 1947 and went on to technical high school where she studied business. She and Bill were married in October 1952 as Bill served in the US Air Force, after which they settled in Cincinnati, OH. She worked many years as a bookkeeper at US Playing Card in Cincinnati. She and Bill relocated to Marion, IN, in 1971. She later continued her career as a bookkeeper and manager at People’s Drug for over 10 years. She was involved in the community through her work with Welcome Wagon and Marion Civic Theatre. She loved being on the golf course and was a long-time member of MELGA, Elks Lodge #195, serving on many committees over the years. She enjoyed playing Bridge and traveling with her husband in retirement. They visited numerous national parks across the country and played several challenging golf courses along the way. JoAnn was a devout Catholic, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always curious, loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends, especially her two granddaughters, Mary Ann and April.She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William C. “Bill” Adams; her children, Julia Marvin, Redding CA, Rick Adams (Tina), Columbus OH, and Jeff Adams (Tracey) Melbourne, KY; granddaughter, Mary Ann Adams; great-grandsons, Austin and Eli, Aurora, IN; granddaughter, April Marvin, Portland, OR; brothers, Jim Loftus (Ann), Naples, FL, and John Loftus, Cincinnati, OH; brother-in-law, Jim Adams (Joyce), Amelia, OH; sister-in-law, Ann Hammond (Paul), OK, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.JoAnn is deeply loved and will be missed by her family and friends. She showed tremendous courage to the very end.Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 W. Kem Rd., Marion, IN, with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial will follow in Marion National Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, prior to the service at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN 46952.
