Born on November 18, 1940 in Onslow County, he was the son of the late Willis Dixon and Olive Jones Aman. Mr. Aman was a 1957 graduate of White Oak High School, attended Chowan College before graduating from East Carolina University in 1961, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting, and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After college, he served in the US Coast Guard and continued in the Coast Guard Reserve for 8 years. He began working for Royster-Clark Fertilizer Company in 1962. He later started Aman Family Farms, Inc., in Maysville, and was the recipient of the Master Farmer Award from the Onslow County Cooperative Extension in 2008.
Surviving, are his wife of 53 years, Sandra McClung Aman, of the home; two sons, Willis Jackson Aman, II and wife Carol, of Maysville, Andrew Jason Aman, of Orlando, FL; two daughters, Pamela Aman Brame, of Maysville, Angela Aman Holland and husband Michael, of Maysville; a sister, Laura Waters and husband John, of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Dylan Christopher Brame, Caitlin Nicole Riddle, Amanda Bray, Daniel Strobel; and two great-grandchildren, Brayden Lee Riddle and Madison Nicole Riddle.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6 pm until 8 pm at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro. Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Reverends Bryan Lassiter and William McClung, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Seaside Memorial Park Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church; 2953 Belgrade Swansboro Road; Maysville, NC 28555.
