David G. Allbee 1938-2015 BROOKLINE David Gerald Allbee, 76, of Hill Road, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday morning, April 22, 2015, surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Brookline, he was born at home on September 7, 1938, the son of Harlan and Jessie (Woodbury) Allbee. He was raised and educated in Brookline, graduating from Brattleboro High School, class of 1956. Mr. Allbee received a Masters degree in Special Education from the University of Connecticut in 1970. For several years he taught Driver's Education and Special Education at Leland & Gray Union High School in Townshend. Previously he taught in the public school systems of Hartford and Colchester, Conn. Mr. Allbee had a strong sense of civic duty which let him to serve on the board of education in Hebron, Conn., the Newfane, Vt. Select Board, and most recently on the Historic Brookline Church Preservation Committee. Mr. Allbee was a prolific writer and poet with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a faithful and devoted husband and loving father, brother, grandfather, uncle and great grandfather. On September 13, 1959, in Newfane, he was married to Jean Graham who survives. Besides his wife of 55 years he leaves behind two sons, Stephen (Joanie) of Kodiak, Alaska and Jonathan (Lisa) of Williamstown, Massachusetts; one daughter, Miriam (Michael) Kelly of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Bryan and Elise Allbee, Natasha and Alexander Allbee, and Benjamin and Ava Kelly; and two great-grandsons. He also leaves one sister, Carolyn Allbee of Brattleboro; two brothers, Roger (Ann) Allbee of Townshend and Ronald (Susan) of Sarasota, Florida; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Allbee was predeceased by a great grandson, Isaac Joseph Gaspard. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in David's name may be made to Valley Cares Assisted Living, 461 Grafton Road, Townshend, VT 05353.
