Duane W. Conrad, age 70, of Shawano passed away on August 15, 2015. He was born on October 23, 1944 to William and Viola (Beilke) Conrad. Duane lived in Shawano must of his life, except when he was serving in the Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and received the Shawano Volunteer of the Year Award. Duane was also Past Commander and member of the Shawano American Legion Post 117 and Shawano D.A.V., Shawano County Voiture #986 40et8, served on the committee to advise Toby Roth on Veterans Outreach Clinic in Appleton, assisted in the formation of the support group to Desert Storm vets and instrumental in forming the Vietnam Veterans Group in the county.

Duane is survived by several cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Reverend Scott Ludford officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Bowler with Military Rites conducted by Shawano American Legion Post #117.
