Born Dec. 7, 1919, in St. Louis to William and Alice Alton Dickson, she married Cory E. Abbington on Jan. 27, 1949, in St.Louis. He died April 28, 1979. She also was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one adopted daughter, Willene McDonald of Peoria; three nephews, Emmett Young Jr., Haywood Young and Lawrence Young, all of Chicago; and four nieces, Deborah Muldrow, Susan Young, Joycelyn Slaughter and Felicia Harris, all of Chicago.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Monday at her church, where visitation will be two hours before services. The Rev. Larry J. Bell will officiate. Order of Eastern Star rites will be conducted at 7:15 p.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery. Simons Mortuary is in charge of arrangements
