Mrs. Powers (nee Chloe St. John) died at the age of 27. She was the first wife of the Hon. Gershom Powers, who had served in the US Congress as a Representative from New York. The couple, who were natives of New Hampshire, wed c.1811. They later moved to central New York, settling in the Auburn area. Mrs. Powers died two weeks after giving birth to their son, St. John Powers. Her husband was buried beside her after his death thirteen years later.
