Funeral services for Mrs. Judith Hughes, 85, who died at 10:30 p.m. yesterday at the Lutheran hospital where she was taken yesterday, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Gass chapel with Rev. E. G. Brinkmeyer, pastor of the Federated church, officiating Burial will be in the Postville cemetery.
Born Aug 2, 1858, at La Crosse, Wis., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Williams, she was married in March, 1880 in Iowa City, Ia., to John W. Hughes.
Mr. Hughes died June 11, 1917 and Mrs. Hughes has resided here the past 11 years.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of the East Lincoln chapter of the Eastern Star, was a past president of the W. R. C. and a member of the First Presbyterian church in Lincoln, where she was a former resident.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. T. D. Thomas of Columbus, Mrs. E. Hagemand of Lincoln and Miss Margaret Hughes of Lincoln; three sons, Dewitt of Albion, Major H. D. Huhges, inspector general, of Macon, Ga., and Stanley of Monroe; 12 grand-children; four great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Ann Jones of Carroll and Mrs. Margaret Thomas of Iowa City, Ia.
The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral home tomorrow from 1 p. m. until the hour of the service.
