Edeltraut Jutta Fauter, known as 'Edie', was born 30 Nov 1924 in Fraustadt, Germany to Amil Fauter and Maria Reinckie. Edie grew up and was educated in Germany. She became an interpreter on a military base after WWII. She met Sgt. Salvador Mata there and they married 6 Dec 1954 in Wiesbaden, Hesse,Germany. Edie became a Naturalized citizen of the USA on 6 Dec 1960 in Sacramento, CA.
All four of Edie and Sals children were born in Germany.
Edie died on 18 Jun 1977 at the Naval Medical Center in Long Beach, CA.
She was survived by her husband, Salvador of Torrance, CA; Four children: Rosalie Elisabeth Mata, Michael Alexander Mata, Estella Marie Mata, and Hortencia Eloisa 'Corky' Mata; and a sister, Inge Fauter (Miles) Perry of Pensicola, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
