Funeral services for Mr. Donald Howard McCoy, age 84, of Jacksonville will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Barbara Morgan officiating.  Burial will follow at Earle's Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.  Don was born October 5, 1930, in Breckenridge, Texas to Howard and Margarite Hatfield McCoy.  He worked as a pressman for the Jacksonville Daily Progress and later for the Houston Chronicle; returning to Jacksonville in 1994.  He loved anything to do with outdoors.  He loved fishing, hunting and working on anything of a mechanical nature.  He could repair anything and was well known as "Mr. Fix-it".  He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the First Christian Church in Jacksonville.  Don was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Margarite McCoy and two brothers, Frederic Alan and Earnest McCoy.

Don is survived by his wife, five sons, three daughters, a sister, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be six in total.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Disciples Men's Group of First Christian Church.  Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Boren-Conner Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
