MRS. ARABELLA E. CHIPMAN [ARABELLA HOWARD (BEAN) CHIPMAN]
South Poland, Dec 14--The funeral of Mrs. Arabelle E. Chipman [sic], widow of the late James I[rving]. Chipman took place Friday at 1:30 p.m. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Frank M. Lamb of Mechanic Falls. Alvah Strout, Harry Thurlow, Otis Campbell and Merle Chipman acted as bearers. Iterment was at Pine Grove cemetery. Mrs. Chipman was the daughter of John [John Nelson] and Melvina [Lois Melvina (Jewett)] Bean and was born in Hanover, Jan 3, 1857, being one of a family of eight children. Hers is the first death among them and only two uder 70 years of age [Emily and Marshall]. One of these [Emily] will reach the age of 70 in a few weeks.
She is survived by three sons, Alberto Lee [Chipman] of Winston-Salem, N. C., Roy Earle [Chipman] of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., and Ralph Linden with whom she lived [in Poland, ME]; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren; four brothers Nelson Bean, Milan, N. H.; Channing Bean, Hampton N. H.; Mellen Bean, East Fall Church [Falls Church not Fall Church] Va.; Marshall Bean, Oakbow [Oakton not Oakbow], Va; and three sisters, Mrs. Elvera Taylor, Berlin N. H.; Mrs. Lydia Brock and Mrs. [Emily] Leon Roberts, both of Hanover.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Bean, Milan N. H.; Mr. and Mrs Fred Bean, Erroll, N. H.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Robbins and two sons Berlin, N. H.; Mrs and Mrs. Chester Chipman, Mechanic Falls, Mrs. A. M. Stevens, Portland and Mrs. ??? Chipman of New Glouchester. Mrs. Chipman died in the family home to which she came as a bride 53 years ago.
