LEONA WERNECKE

Leona Wernecke, age 86 formerly of 1014 S. 22nd St., Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, May 8, 2004 at the Heartland Country Village Nursing Home in Black Earth, Wis.
Leona was born July 2, 1917 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Peter and Anna Bonk Mrotek. She was a 1935 graduate of Manitowoc's Lincoln High School. Leona was a hairdresser and worked for David's Beauty Salon in Manitowoc. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Manitowoc.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law: Peter (Lisa) Wernecke of Middleton, Wis.; two granddaughters: Anne and Kathleen Wernecke; one sister-in-law: Armilla Mrotek of Manitowoc. Leona was preceded in death by two brothers: Daniel Mrotek and Gordon Mrotek; two sisters: Florence Ruby and Irene Stanzel.
Cremation will take place with burial of her cremated remains at St. Mary's Cemetery in Manitowoc. The Jens Family Funeral Home and Crematory of Manitowoc is serving the Wernecke family.
