Sr. Hubert Marie Timothy, formerly Kathleen Veronica Timothy, a member of the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York for the past 74 years, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 in St. Martin de Porres Community. Sister was 92 years of age. Sr. Hubert Marie was born to Nicholas Timothy and Sarah Nugent Timothy on June 6, 1922 in New York. She entered the Sisters of Saint Dominic on September 8, 1941 from St. John’s Parish, Bronx, NY. Sr. Hubert Marie received the Dominican habit on July 3, 1942, professed first vows on August 24, 1943 and final vows on August 27, 1946. Sister held the BS in Education from Catholic Teachers College, Rhode Island. Sr Hubert Marie’s many years of active ministry were in the field of education and child care. St. Pius School Bronx, NY 1944-52; Astor Memorial , Rhinebeck, NY , 1952: Immaculate Conception School, Amenia, NY 1952-63; St. Philip & James School, Bronx, NY, 1963-74; Lavelle School, Bronx, NY, 1974-1996. Sister returned to St. Dominic’s Convent, Blauvelt, NY in 1996 and volunteered her time and talents to various community projects until her death. In addition to her religious congregation, Sr. Hubert Marie is survived by her nephews James, Michael and Thomas O’Hea and her nieces Kathleen Boyle, and Marianne Anderson. She was predeceased by her sisters Sr. Mary Audrey Timothy and Margaret Grace (Timothy) O’Hea.
