(Death Announcement from the Monday, July 4, 1898 Baltimore Sun---issue 42 page 10:

"Dr. S.C. Wegefarth Was Drowned---The funeral will take place today of Dr. Samuel Charles Wegefarth, 1223 East North avenue, who was drowned while bathing Thursday night at Riverview Park. His body was found Saturday in the dep-water channel, about fifth feet from where was seen to go down. Justice Hartman of Highland town held an inquest and rendered a verdict of accidental drowning."

Obituary from the July 5, 1898 Baltimore Sun--issue 43 page 12:

"Funeral of Dr. S.C. Wegefarth---The funeral of Dr. Samuel C. Wegefarth, who was drowned Thursday at Riverview Park, took place yesterday from his late home, 1223 East North avenue. The services at the house were conducted by Rev. John P. Campbell of Faith Presbyterian Church. Thomas W. Jamison, of Cassia Lodge of Masons, No. 45, had charge of the services at the grave in Baltimore Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Messrs. E.E. Owing, Samuel Taylor, William J. Crew, George Kramer, Henry Eckman, and Albert Jones. A delegation from the Uniformed Rank of Heptasophs was present."
