Clarence Diehl, 71, of 630 Ronalds Street, died Monday at Mercy Hospital after he was stricken with a heart attack at Hi-Point Golf Course.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Beckman-Butherus and Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. C. Dendy Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday.

He was born Feb. 5, 1905, in Jonesboro, Tenn., to Edward and Margaret Williams Diehl. He came to Iowa City as an infant and attended schools here. For many years he worked at Reichardts Cafe and later was employed as a pressman for Economy Advertising until retiring three years ago.

On May 22, 1927, he married Edna Williams in Iowa City.

He was a member of First Methodist Church and the 113th Calvary.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. John (Mary) Dougherty of Iowa City; one son, Jerry Diehl of Cantonment, Fla.; seven granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; his mother of Iowa City; and two brothers, Alfred of Los Angeles, and Lawrence of Long Beach, Calif.

His father, one brother and a half-sister died earlier.
