Thanks to my Good Buddy Tad for sponsoring Rolands page. Such a nice thing to do...His Daughter, Dee also sends her thanks...

My second Cousin.

Roland is the son of Jones Onest and Minnie Orr Gillespie.
He was raised on a large tobacco farm in Rockingham County. Roland is a brother to J.T.Gillespie and Edna Gillespie. All are deceased and on F.A.G in my listings.
Roland leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Clara Estelle Matherly Gillespie and 3 children, Dorcas Gillespie-Midkiff (DEE IN THE GARDEN), Raymond Bradley Gillespie, and April Gillespie Hill Frazier.
4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He retired as a Finish Carpenter.
He will be forever loved and missed by his family.

He was in the Navy during WW11.
PACIFIC ARENA SERVED ON DESTROYER USS MOALE.

Rest in Peace Roland and I am so glad I got to visit you recently. I have so many fond memories of the farm and Dee says you wanted to go to the farm at the end. My grandmother Gaydon used to take me with her to visit every summer. I was a city girl and the farm was fasinating to me. I have never forgotten anything about those visits, from watermelons to Jergens Lotion. It was a wonderful time.
You are home now. No more pain.
Give my Grandmother a big hug from me.
