Ethel Schroeder Anthes, 89, of Windham, CT, formerly of Mamaroneck, NY, beloved wife of the late Charles William Anthes, died August 25, 2015 in Windham, CT. She was born on November 17, 1925 in Port Chester, NY, the daughter of the late John F.M. Schroeder and Dorothea (Stroh) Schroeder. Ethel was active at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Mamaroneck, NY, St. Paul’s, Willimantic, CT and was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Chapel in Storrs, Ct., and she was also a Red Cross volunteer for 40 years. She was predeceased by her son, Charles John Anthes, and her brother, John Francis Schroeder. She is survived by her daughter-in-law of Coventry, CT and her husbands’ brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Mildred Anthes of Westerly, RI and several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Greenwood Union Cemetery, 215 North St., Rye, NY. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Chapel Memorial Fund, 42 North Eagleville Rd., Storrs, CT 06268 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
