James was born on June 4, 1962 to George Wheeler and Joan Wheeler in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was raised in Longmont, CO. On February 15, 2001, he married Denise Peace in Noblesville, IN.
James served in the U. S. Marines for 13 years. He was also a mechanic for HAECO/Timco Aviation Services in Greensboro. He enjoyed camping and was a long time Moose Lodge and American Legion member. As a youth, he was proud to be a Boy Scout.
James was preceded in death by his father George, mother Joan and younger brother John Wheeler. He is survived by his wife Denise of North Carolina, his former wife, Dee Piercy, who is also the mother of his two daughters, Jamie and Danielle, daughter Jamie Palin (Gordon) of Washington State and daughter Danielle Carl of Indiana. He is further survived by his stepchildren Michelle Peace-DeRuntz (Scott), Lauri Peace-Beckette (Randy), Lee Peace and John Wayne Peace (Susan). James also leaves behind brother Thomas Wheeler, and three sisters Linda Taylor (Paul), Mary Ann Overdier (Wayne) and Judith Diederich, all of Longmont. Many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles mourn James' passing. James loved his nine grandchildren, Macy Jo, Boston, Violet, Brittany. Jacy, Addyson, Kayden, Alex, and Michael.
Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary Chapel from 4 until 7 p.m., Tuesday, September 8. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 9 at Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Deacon Michael Berens officiating. A reception will follow the service, with burial concluding at Mountain View Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Colorado Patriot Guard Riders, P.O.
