The friends of Mr. Miles G. Lee were shocked Friday morning to learn of his sudden death. They could not realize that he was gone, for he was around as usual on Thursday and was apparently in his usual health, except for a cold. The cause of death was congestion of the lungs caused by the cold, and his illness was short inspite of everything that could be done. The funeral took place from the Baptist church Sunday afternoon and was largely attended. Mr. Lee was one of the pioneer settlers of this country, first settling in Kearny county where he followed the occupation of farming until advancing age compelled him to retire. He then came to Garden City where he soon surrounded himself with warm friends and command their respect until the last. Mr. Lee was an old soldier and a member of the I.O.O.F lodge. The death of Mr. Lee ended a strong friendship of three men, all of whom have passed away within a few weeks. Mr. A. E. Keep, brutality murdered, S. M. Martin, who died suddenly only a few days after Mr. Keep and now Mr. Lee. These three men were constant companions and tp see one you would find the other twp close by. The death of his two friends affected Mr. Lee very strongly and he felt the loss of their companionship. Mr. Lee was 82 years of age and was born and raised in Pennsylvania.
