Chelsea Cohen, 17 years old, lost her long courageous battle with a rare cancer on August 2, 2006. Chelsea recently graduated with high honors from Norwalk High School. Chelsea approached her illness with the same tenacity and drive she displayed with the many different athletic endeavors that she undertook. She was Captain of the High School Varsity soccer team and participated in basketball and track. She also played violin and was a member of the Norwalk High School orchestra. Chelsea was inspirations to all who knew her and were touched by her spirit, strength and kind-heartedness. Her mother, Barbara Rittner, her father, Larry Cohen, her brother, Daniel, her grandparents, Marilyn & Calvin Rittner, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends survives her. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the entire community for all the love and support throughout this challenging time. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Brien McMahon High School, 300 Highland Avenue, Norwalk, at 12 noon, with interment following at Temple Shalom Cemetery on Richards Avenue in Norwalk. The Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home, 88 Beach Road, Fairfield is in care of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Chai Lifeline, 151 West 30th Street, 3rd floor, New York, NY 10001.
