Husband of Genevieve "Jennie" Mary V. O'Brien
With Jennie, Charles was the father of:
• Lavina Leslie Flahive Burger. Lavina was the wife of Martin Burger and the mother of Jeanette Wilma, Philip Martin, and Charlene Elizabeth Burger.
• Raymond Christopher Flahive, husband of Melissa Mae Kropf; Melissa was the daughter of Leo M. Kropf and Nellisea M. Houpt. Note: A birth certificate was issued in Chicago for John Flahive. He was born the same day as Ray. It is unknown if Charles and Jennie had twins or if they originally intended to give Ray the given name of John. No other records were located related to John. Other primary records show Ray was named Raynold.
Charles' remains were probably interred at Calvary. This statement is based on the fact that a number of his children were interred in the cemetery prior to his passing.
About Jennie's second marriage
Jennie married Colonel Orville H. Mills, both were blind according to the article in the Friday, October 6, 1950 San Diego Union newspaper. Both had been married prior to the wedding. The ceremony was held in Sacred Heart Church. They honeymooned at Del Mar. Orville and Jennie met at the Blind Recreation Club several years before they married. Orville was the father of two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Vanderbeek and Mrs. Frances Read.
