A stone cutter, he was the son of John B. Stevenson
On 26 March 1879, he married Sidney V. Rennolds, the daughter of Philip J. Rennolds (1812-29 Oct 1873). She died 11 Oct 1948 in Johnstown, PA.

G B Stevenson, for 12 years a resident of Bluefield, and for many years previous a resident of Pocahontas, died at Newport, Ky, Tuesday of heart disease, aged 68 years. Mr Stevenson is survived by his wife and adopted daughter.
His remains were taken to Richmond, Va, and interred by the Masonic fraternity, of which he was a 32nd degree member.
Mr Stevenson was a native of Scotland and a man of irreproachable character. He was a N & W bridge foreman on the Kenova division.
