(1907 - 1963)
Miss Selma Zilinski (sic), 56, of 1709 Hamilton St., Manitowoc, died early Wednesday morning after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Friday at Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and 9 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. John Landowski officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Miss Zilinski was born March 2, 1907, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Peter and Lidia Skrypenski Zilinski. She was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc. She began her employment with Manitowoc County in October, 1935, and was presently the chief deputy county clerk. She was a member of St. Mary Guild, Daughters of Isabella and Holy Innocents Third Order of St. Francis Fraternity.
Albert W. Tetzlaff, county clerk, in whose office she was employed, said Miss Zilinski "exemplified the highest type of public service. Her unquestioned loyalty, dependability and devotion to duty made her a fine example of what we expect from a public employe. "She will be missed not only in our office and by other co-workers in the Courthouse, but by the public she served. Though she started as a part-time employe, her unusual ability was soon recognized and she moved up steadily to her present position as chief deputy. She was well informed in many areas of county operation and was always mindful of the county's interest."
Survivors include a brother, Edwin, of Milwaukee, two sisters, Mrs. Melvin Stuiber and Mrs. Charles Plotka, of Manitowoc and a nephew. A sister also preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by the Third Order of St. Francis, at 7:30 p.m. by St. Mary parishioners and at 8 p.m. by the Daughters of Isabella.
