LaMont was born June 1st 1933 at Goshen, Idaho a son of Marion Wells Hess and Laura Opal John Hess.
He married Avis Marie Ballard, June 25th 1958 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Mont grew up and attended Rigby Schools graduating from Rigby High School. As an active member of the LDS Church he served a mission to the Gulf States. He worked as a Custodial Supervisor for the Temples of the LDS Church. He served in a Bishopric, 1st counselor in the Stake Presidency and on the high council. He loved to read and memorize scriptures and conference talks. As a Patriarch in the LDS Church he always said “The Lord can’t draw from an empty well”. His first love was the Lord. He kept his Temple covenants and they were close to his heart, together with his one and only “Lovies,” his wife, Avis, and his two sons, Denton and Michael. He was a sealer in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for 19 years and loved it. He worked with his wife in the sealing office for 7 years.
He is survived by his wife Avis of Rigby, sons: Denton LaMont Hess of Paradise Island, Washington and Michael Leon Hess of Cape Canaveral, Florida; sister: Jean (Duane) Harper of Rigby; brothers: Carl Hess, John Hess and Kenneth Hess.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8th 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Rigby 15th Ward LDS Chapel, 602 Sundance Drive, Rigby. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
