Thelma Lucille Taladay, 93, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at her home, where she lived independently until the time of her passing. She was born on May 23, 1920, to the late William Orville Viers and Margaret Mae Baker Viers in Clinchburg, Va. She was employed at the Nettie Lee Knitting Mill in Chilhowie, Va., for many years and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Meadowview, Va. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and spending time with her beloved Schnauzer, Kasey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Fred Taladay;five siblings, Louise Viers, Bill Viers, Edith Adams, Pauline Henderson, and Todd Viers;and two son-in-laws, Don Ferguson, and Dan Wynegar. She is survived by two daughters, Koleda T. Ferguson of Abingdon, Va., and Darla T. Wynegar of Meadowview, Va.;sister-in-law, Janie Chapman Viers of Glade Spring, Va.;six grandchildren, Ricky Patrick and wife, Lucy, Frederick Patrick and wife, Mary, Jonathan Scott Patrick Sr. and wife, Hollie, Jerry Wayne Patrick and wife, Jhedee all of Tex., Steve Wynegar of Meadowview, Va., and Karen Hayden and husband, Ariel of Bristol, Va.;17 great grandchildren, Tawney Wynegar, Hunter Wynegar, Joshua Hayden, Sommer Blitsch, Fred Patrick, Brenna Patrick, Riki Patrick, Victoria Patrick, Thomas Patrick (USN), Taylor Patrick, Tiffini Patrick;Jonathan Scott Patrick Jr.;Jakob Patrick, Shaina Myers, Kolton Wayne Patrick, Kodee James Patrick, and Stephanie Leigh Carter;and three great great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Rose, Sophia Ball, and Kate Myers. Visitation will be from 12 until 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Rose Cemetery on Hwy 91 with Minister Minister Marty Mulligan of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Horace Griffin and Mrs. Taladay's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Flowers will be accepted. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dorothy Keene, Linda Harriger, Lisa Robins, Agnus Rowe, Janie Zell Asbury, George Todd Viers, Johnny Johnson, and Jean Donnelly.
