He was the wind beneath our wings, but on Friday, July 28, 2006 he answered God's call and left us to soar alone. James Wesley Pruitt was born April 14, 1924 to the union of Amy and John Wesley Pruitt in Laurel, MS. He was the seventh child of eight siblings.
James completed his education in the Mississippi school system. In 1949, he and his young bride headed to Washington state via Los Angeles, CA. Upon arriving in Richland, WA in search of work after working at Hanford in the early days, they moved to Pasco where he lived for 50+ years. However, some of those years were spent in Anchorage, Alaska.
Upon settling in Pasco, he joined St. James CME Church, where he served on the Steward and Trustee Board and sang in the Choir. He joined a gospel quartet and sang all over the Northwest. His passion was singing and helping people young and old alike. He always had some advice to help you gain worthwhile achievements. He made many friends across the United States. He possessed a strong force of love and concern for his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews or anyone else who was in need.
He leaves to soar alone, his special friend, Minnie Faye Ross, of Pasco; two daughters, Mollie Pruitt and Kenyatta Johnson; one son, James Pruitt, Jr.; one special daugher-in-law, Kathy Pruitt; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Myrtle Sims and Adlynn (Bob) Stovall of Los Angeles, CA and one brother, David Pruitt, of Nashville, TN, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
