PEKIN ~ Norma Jean Guengerich, 77, of 1711 Valle Vista Blvd., passed away at 8:38 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2006 at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Born August 15, 1928 in Pekin to Henry and Blanche (Livingston) Heiken, she married Nelson A. Guengerich on August 29, 1948 in Pekin. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Jan (Fred) Block of Manito; one son, Dr. Gary A. Guengerich of Mapleton; one grandson, Justin A. Hamann of Fairfax, Virginia; and two sisters, Margaret A. Heiken and Mary (Charles) Vogelsang, both of Pekin.

Norma worked at the Illinois Secretary of State's office in Pekin for 17 years, retiring in 1990 as a driver's license examiner. Previously, she had worked for many years in voter registration at the Tazewell County Clerk's office.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Tom Guengerich, her nephew, will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
