Confederate Veteran Passes Away at Home of Son Near Arcadia-Rites Thursday
Arcadia--Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock for James Hays, 85 years of age, who passed away on Wednesday afternoon at the home of his son, Clyde Hays, near Arcadia. The deceased had been ill about a week. He was a Confederate veteran.
Deceased is survived by four daughters, Mrs. W. M. Gantt and Mrs. J.A. Watson of Arcadia, Mrs. Pardue and Mrs. Greer of Athens; three sons. Ward Hays of Jonesboro, Lon Hays of Arcadia, and Clyde Hays, near Arcadia, where he deceased made his home.
Funeral services were held at the Hurricane Methodist church, near Arcadia, with the Rev. H. M. Johnson, pastor of the M.E. church in Arcadia, in charge, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Whittaker of Athens and the Rev. Mr. Guian of Sterlington.
