Mrs. Emma Acup, 68 years old, died Friday, in the Wood River Township Hospital at Wood River, Ill. The body was brought to Baker Funeral Home in Lutesville Friday, where it remained for the funeral services which were held Monday. Rev. C. E. Barringer, pastor of the Mill Street Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau conducted services and burial was in McGee Chapel Cemetery near Grassy. Mrs. Acup passed away while visiting with a son, Josh, in East Alton, Ill., where she had been since March. The family resided in Cape Girardeau. Born in Kentucky, October 1, 1882, she moved to Bollinger Co. to the Grassy community when a child. She resided there until 1930 when the family moved to Cape Co. She is survived by her husband, James W. Acup of Cape Girardeau, five sons, John Acup of Burfordville, Arvel Acup of Dexter, and Josh, Burl and Buford Acup, all of East Alton, Ill., Mrs. Flora Philips of Fredericktown and Mrs. Marie Orr of St. Francis, Ark.; two half brothers, Edward and Melvin Pugh of Kennett; three sisters, Mrs. Louverne Higgs of Matthews, Mrs. Rebecca Moore of Fredericktown, and Mrs. Alice Atkins of Morehouse; 37 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
