Lois G. (Field) Acre, 91, of Lower Burrell, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, in Belair Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Lower Burrell. She was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Conemaugh Township; a daughter of the late Dr. Charles D. and Mollie (Brailler) Field and lived in the Lower Burrell area most of her life. Lois worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone prior to her marriage in 1947. She was a member of the Presbyterian faith and Eastern Star Inc. Latrobe Chapter 221. Lois enjoyed word search games, reading, crocheting and all music. Her greatest treasure was the gift of having her children and grandchildren in her life. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W. Acre on May 25, 1993; granddaughter, Kylee Jo Acre, Sept. 6, 2009; two brothers, Dr. Charles D. Field Jr. and Daniel W. Field; and sister, Faye Acre. Survivors include son, Jeffrey C. (Diana) Acre, of Lower Burrell; daughters, Lois K. Acre, of Lower Burrell, Patricia (Dr. Norbert) Ming, of Orlando, Fla., Jacqueline (Thomas) Westerman, of New Kensington, and Sheila (Jeffrey) Brunner, of Allegheny Township; one sister, R. Joan Reimann, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; grandchildren, Jeffrey J. (Jessica) Brunner Jr., of Leechburg, Joshua R. (Nicole) Acre, of Harrison Township, Ashley J. (Ian) Smith, of Allegheny Township, Mollie A. Westerman, of New Kensington, Brittney L. Acre, of Lower Burrell, Nory L. Ming Jr., of Orlando, Mariah W. Ming, of Orlando, Jason W. Brunner, of Allegheny Township, and Julia N. Westerman, of New Kensington; great-grandchildren, Danica J. Santucci, Logan P. Smith, Mason C. Brunner, Ryan J. Smith and Maggie G. Brunner; one step-great-grandchild, Maria Matrascia; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the FRANK F. GIGLER FUNERAL HOME, 2877 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Kirk Orr of Puckety Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Burrell Education Foundation, c/o Kylee Acre Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1021 Puckety Church Road, Lower Burrell, PA 15068 or to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Ave., E201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Members of Latrobe Eastern Star, Chapter 221, will meet for a service at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
