Juanita was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Garber, Okla., to the late Roy M. and Edith A. Powell. She was a woman of strong faith who, with her husband, Leonard, dedicated their lives to mission work, pastoring and pioneering many churches throughout North Texas and Maine. Juanita was a brilliant composer of songs and sang to many with her family.
Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard H. Newman Sr.; daughter, Joy E. Newman; parents; and nine siblings.
Survivors: Sons, Jim D. Newman and wife, Helen, Leonard H. Newman Jr. and wife, Wanda, Phil Newman and wife, Linda, and Steve Newman and wife, Luetta; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends and extended family members from all over the world.
