Alto Hall passed peacefully at Charlotte Villa on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in her 103rd year.
Beloved wife of the late Walter Hall (1988). Cherished mother of David Hall (Gayle Finless), Graham Hall (Gail), and John Hall (Margot Neill). Nana and Grandma Toto to Virginia (Patrick), Peter (Caitlin), Robyn (Mike), Michael, Corrie (Trevor), Matthew, Allison and Kaelan (Ashlee). Special Nana to Jennifer (Shawn), Andrew (Lauren), and the Neill Family. Great Grandmother to Gracey, Jacob, Nathan, Emma, Caitlin, Hayden, Aidan, Kaleb, Rowan and Euan. Predeceased by brother Douglas Hope, sister-in-law Jane Wulsin and daughter-in-law Susan Hall. Alto was an active and accomplished woman. While raising three children, she obtained her BA and Master of Library Science from the University of Western Ontario. She was a well-remembered grade 5 teacher at Dufferin Elementary School and Librarian at Brantford Collegiate Institute. Alto was a member of St. Andrew’s (Zion) United Church, Brantford Golf and Country Club, Probus, 50 year member of Canadian Federation of University Women; an avid bridge player, lover of Canadian literature, politics, public speaking and debating. The family sends special thanks to the wonderful staff at Charlotte Villa for their friendship and loving care given to both Alto and the whole family. A private family service was held with interment in Farringdon Burial Ground. A memorial celebration of Alto’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, 95 Darling St. on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family and Alto would appreciate memorial donations to the Brant Community Foundation, Alto and Walter Hall Bursary Fund.
