Married Maxine Hope Longstaff on 12-13-1948. In 1950 he opened his optometrist practice in Eldora, IA. They had a daughter: Kathy Gould Theobald and a son: Dr. Steven Gould. They were a great family.
Dr. Colin G. "Kully" Gould, 79, of Eldora, died on Sunday, January 13, 2002, at the Sun Health Hospice House in Sun City, Arizona.

Services will be held on Friday, January 18, at the First United Methodist Church in Eldora, with burial in the Eastlawn Memory Garden in Eldora. Pastor Anne Lippincott will officiate. Visitation will be on Thursday, January, 17 from 5-8:00 p.m., at the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, with the family present to greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by the Walter-Sayer Post No. 182 of the American Legion and the Roll-Harless No. 3974 of the VFW. A memorial fund has been established.

Colin was born on January 5, 1923 in Marshalltown, to George and Helen Haeussler Gould. He was raised in Conrad and graduated from the Conrad High School in 1941. He attended the University of Iowa before entering the U.S. Navy in 1942. Colin served in the Philippines and was discharged in 1946. He returned to the University of Iowa, where he received his bachelor's degree and then attended Northern Illinois College of Optometry, where he received his optometry degree. On December 30, 1948, he married Maxine Longstaff in Pittsburgh, Kansas. He worked as an optometrist in New Mexico before moving to Eldora in 1950 and opened his own practice. Maxine died in 1984 and in 1985 Colin married Mae Diehl in Eldora. He retired in 1986.

He was a member of the Eldora United Methodist Church, the Eldora Rotary, Walter-Sayer Post No. 182 of the American Legion, the Eldora Elks, the Iowa and American optometry associations and the Pine Lake Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mae; a daughter, Kathy Theobald and husband, Ken of Webster City; a son, Dr. Steven Gould and wife, Mary Kay of Knoxville; a sister, Marilyn Newburgh of Corvallis, Oregon; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine; and a brother, James Gould.

The Creps-Abels Funeral Home of Eldora, was in charge of the arrangements.
