TIERNEY Jean P. Tierney, age 91, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Russell Tierney, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Bridgeport Hospital. Jean had been a Fairfield resident for most of her life. She was a retired secretary for the Dictaphone Company following 47 years of service, and proudly never missed one day of work during her career. She was a lifelong active member of First Church Congregational in Fairfield where she was a former Trustee, served on the Diaconate, the Investment Committee, was the first woman at the church to serve as Moderator and was a founding volunteer for the Church Store where she worked up until 3 weeks ago. She is survived by several loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. in the Spear-Miller Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield.
