Mr. Houser was born on Dec. 27, 1916, in Gustavus, Ohio, the son of Amos and Zertha Loyer Houser. John moved to the area in 1953.
He retired as a carpenter from Carpenter Local #171 with 63 years service.
He was a member of the Salem Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Eleanor Brady, whom he married Sept. 2, 1939; two grandchildren, Dale Ralph Houser and Christine Mae Graham, and one brother, Virgil Houser.
He is survived by his second wife, the former Marvel Heindel Houser, whom he married April 14, 1988. He is also survived by a son, Delmar and his wife, Karen, of Madison, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Rita Fitzsimmons and her husband, Arnold, of New Waterford; a son, Roy and his wife, Linda, of Salem and daughter, Mrs. Sally Anderson of North Lima; one brother, Gale of Austintown, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima with the Rev. George Hazlett, minister emeritus, officiating. Burial will be in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima and one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in North Lima.
