He was born in Scott County, Va. on Dec. 13, 1950 to James Elmer Stanley and Euna Mae Frazier Stanley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Euna Mae Frazier Stanley.
Including his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, George Barlow Stanley and Lula Laney Stanley; grandparents, Haburn Hale Frazier and Lucy Bowen Frazier; nephew, James Dakota Stanley.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Stanley served in the Army and was a Vietnam veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Jo Ann Stanley, Duffield, Va.; daughter, Donna Johnson and Robert Griffin, Dryden, Va.; son, Darrell Stanley, Duffield, Va.; father, James Elmer Stanley, Big Stone Gap, Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Debby and Ron Lindamood, Blountville, Judy and George Austin, Duffield, Va., Karen and Joe Roberson, Big Stone Gap, Va.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Benny and Mary Stanley, Duffield, Va., Tommy and Brenda Stanley, Clinchport, Va.; grandchildren, Nick Hall, Marie Hall, Amanda Johnson, Destiny Griffin and Zeke Griffin.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home.
Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hall Cemetery, Stanleytown community with American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265.
