Betty L. Longshore, 75, of Arkansas City, KS passed away Monday, September 7, 2015, at her residence. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015, at the First Baptist Church. Pastor Dave Stanley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hope Cemetery. Friends may greet the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.
Betty was born May 16, 1940, to Irwin L. and Olga M. (Hileman) McKnight in Wellington, KS. She was reared and educated in Wellington graduating from Wellington High School in 1958.
On August 26, 1995, Betty married Larry J. Longshore at the Chaplin Nature Center in Arkansas City, where the couple made their home. Betty worked at the Ark City Chamber of Commerce where she served as CEO and President for several years. She then worked for First Intermark as a client service manager for 20 years until her retirement. In her spare time Betty enjoyed working and planting in her flower garden. Most of all she cherished her family and her grandchildren. Betty was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband Larry of the home; children Jeff Larmer and wife Cindy of Ponca City, OK; Greg Larmer and fiancé Amy of Wichita, KS; Brook Leonard and wife Kelley of Seneca, MO; Stacey Swearingen and husband Dave of Olathe, KS; Jeff Longshore and wife Erin of Olathe, KS; sister Pamela Webster and husband Willard of Corbin, KS; grandchildren Codi, Callie, and Reece Larmer, Zane, Caroline, and Olivia Leonard, Sophie and Jack Swearingen, Henry, Westly, and Joseph Longshore, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial has been established for the Gentiva Hospice. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.
