Walter Claude Parker, Sr., 88, went to his heavenly reward on May 28, 2014. He was born May 10, 1926 in Wray, Georgia. He was a resident of Pahokee for over 50 years. Retired from U.S. Sugar Corporation after 35 years of service in 1991. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Syble Juanita Carver Parker, father Tobe Claude Parker, mother Lena Jinnett Sills Parker and sister Jewell Parker McDaniel. He is survived by daughter of Pahokee, son Walter Parker and wife, Clewiston, daughter and husband Ronnie, Canal Point, son Jerry Parker of West Palm Beach, and son and wife of San Angelo, Texas. He also is survived by Mardella of Lake Alfred, Florida whom he considered as a daughter, as well as Teresa of San Angelo, Texas. He has one brother Lenous Parker, Marbury, Alabama surviving. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army where he completed Parachutist school. He participated in Operation Varsity Jump in Rhineland with the 464th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion while attached to the 17th Airborne Division. He received the American Theater Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and World War II Victory Medal. Services are Saturday May 31, 2014 at the Canal Point Baptist Church with viewing at 10:00AM and service starting at 11:00AM. Burial at Port Mayaca Cemetery. Arrangements by Glades Funeral Chapel in Belle Glade, Florida.
