K. Asif was a film director, film producer and screenwriter who was famous for his work on the Hindi epic motion picture, Mughal-e-Azam (1960) starring Madhubala and Dilip Kumar.
Though K. Asif wasn’t educated but he was creative genius. He had a strong personality- both physically and mentally and was very stubborn in terms of his works and dreams. He was also very dramatic in narrating the story and perfectionist in picturization of the scene as per his imagination.
He married Nigar Sultana who played the role of Bahaar in “Mughal-e-Azam” with whom he had three children. He also married Akhtar, sister of Dilip Kumar. Both the wives stayed together for a long period.

After Mughal-e-Azam, Asif started Laila-Majnu themed “Love and God” starring Guru Dutt and Nimmi, completely in colour. But the shootings came to a halt due to the death of Guru Dutt in 1964. He recast Sanjeev Kumar in the lead and resumed making of the film, but the film got shelved altogether because of sudden death of K.Asif due to heart failure on March 9, 1971. “Love and God” was released in an incomplete form in 1986. He was also involved in making “Sasta Khoon Mehnga Paani” which was never completed.
