PAUL A. LAURENZI
Paul A. Laurenzi, 79, of 93rd Street, who worked at Bell Aircraft Co. and its successors for about 40 years, died Monday (April 5, 1993) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
A native of Old Forge, Pa., he was born on January 10, 1914, the son of the late Phillip and Pasqualina (Innamorati) Laurenzi.
Laurenzi moved to Niagara Falls in 1933 to attend Niagara University on a football scholarship. He graduated in 1937 with a bachelor's degree in education.
He married Lena C. (Cottone) Laurenzi on September 1, 1941.
He joined Bell Aircraft as a structural technician. He helped organize the first labor union at Bell. He retired in 1980.
On his own initiative, he restored the replica of the Statue of Liberty that once stood in Hyde Park. He was interested in automobile restoration and also built his own canoe.
Laurenzi was a member of the Niagara University Alumni Association and was an active fund-raiser. He also was a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Lena Cottone; a son, Paul A. Jr. of Snyder; two sisters, Vera Martino of Wilson and Norma Viscomi; two brothers, Peter and Armand Laurenzi; and a grandson.
He was the brother of the late Angelo Laurenzi.
A funeral blessing will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1055 N. Military Road. Prayers will be said at 9:15 in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St.
Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
