Ruby was born Sept. 9, 1927, in Plano, Idaho. Her parents were Charles Ernest Robertson and Margaret McCulloch Robertson. She was the oldest of three girls. She lived in Egin, Idaho, for a short time, then her parents bought a farm in Edmunds, Idaho. She graduated from Edmunds
High School in 1945 and received an associate's degree in education from Ricks College in 1947.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions. She played guitar in an all-girl orchestra and with her dad at church functions and barn dances. Since she was the oldest and had no brothers, she was her "dad's hired man" and helped with all the farming.
She met Elroy at the Romance Theater in Rexburg in August of 1946. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 14, 1947. They lived in Rexburg, Idaho, while she finished school at Ricks. They moved to Edmunds, so Elroy could finish his education, which had been interrupted by his Army service in World War II, and he graduated in 1948.
They moved back to Rexburg, then to Idaho Falls in 1950 to work for the Coca Cola Bottling Company. Ruby worked for 25 years as a bookkeeper in the sales route department. She loved to spend time in Island Park. Many hours were spent going to activities for grandchildren, especially basketball, football, volleyball and cheerleading, which she really enjoyed supporting and being a part of. The greatest joy in her life came from her husband and family.
She is survived by her two children, George (Peggy) Rigby of Farmington, Utah, and Virginia Wells of Idaho Falls; her four grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Rigby, Trisha (Mike) Pimentel, Tina Wells and TJ (Janette) Wells; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Elroy, who passed away Aug. 2,2015; her parents; and two sisters, LaWanna and Elaine.
The family expresses deep appreciation for the loving care provided to Ruby by Life Care Center
and Hands of Hope Hospice.
