Mr. Arvil Ray 'Joe' Adkins 61 of Chapmanville, WV was born March 13, 1954 at Logan, WV a son of the late Fulton Arvil Adkins and Eva Adkins Mendel. He departed this life on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at his residence.
Joe was a wonderful companion, father, and provider for his family. He was always willing to help anyone. Joe was a veteran of the US Air Force. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles & Julie Adkins and Adam & Lula Adkins, a son, Joey Lee, sister, Lovetta 'Popeye' Deskins, and a nephew, Norman Deskins, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are; his companion and caregiver of 27 years, and fiancée, Retonda Dingess, 2 daughters, Dortha Dingess at home and Tracy Carter of Georgia, 2 sons, Donald Ray Adkins of Garretts Fork, Chapmanville and Daniel Heath Adkins of Peach Creek, WV, 3 grandchildren, brother, Adam (Dorothy) Adkins, 3 sisters, Barbara (Frank) Henson, Donna (John) Szucs, and Pamela (Earl) Bush, several nieces, nephews, a very close friend and uncle, John Adkins, and a close and good family friend, Charlotte Simpkins.
Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville with Rev. Donnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday at the Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services at Chapmanville, WV.
