Folletz, Leroy E.

Leroy E. Folletz, age 85, a Manitowoc resident, died Wednesday morning, July 15, 2015 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

He was born on December 9, 1929 in Manitowoc, son of the late Erwin and Nelda (Peterson) Folletz. Leroy attended Manitowoc schools before the family moved to Oshkosh where he graduated from high school. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a Radio Communications Seargent. Later, he served in the office of General MacArthur in Tokyo with the occupational forces. Leroy worked closely with the Japanese people. On May 9, 1953 he married the former Pearl Caflisch in Manitowoc. He was employed with Invincible, Miller of St. Nazianz, Team Electronics and Stecker Machining. Leroy was also the owner of Leroy's TV Repair Shop. He was known as the TV Repair Man. He was an avid reader, especially Louis L'Amour novels, enjoyed scroll sawing and woodworking. Leroy was also an avid gardener who enjoyed his flower and tomato plants and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years: Pearl Folletz, Manitowoc; one son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Kathy Folletz, Oshkosh; two daughters and sons-in-law: Sue Folletz and Steve Eber, Texas, Liz and Rob Scherer, Manitowoc; seven grandchildren: Gabriel and Amy Folletz, Oshkosh, Matthew Folletz, Roswell, NM, Paul and Amy Folletz, Oshkosh, Cassie and Jason Andersen, Wisconsin Rapids, Bryan Scherer, Manitowoc, Brad Scherer, Manitowoc and Erika Scherer, Milwaukee; five great grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Shirley and Verdon Hatch, Utah, Fern Kallin, Sturgeon Bay, Joyce and Tom Eberhart, Pickett, Don Bartelt; a brother and sister-in-law: Jerry and Sue Folletz, Oshkosh; a brother-in-law: Dale Caflisch, Rhinelander; and five sisters-in-law: Rosella Bastian, Escanaba, Geraldine Beilke, Phlox, Alice and Ken Halterman, Jacksonsville, FL., Lois Caflisch and Laurel Caflisch. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was also preceded in death by two infant children: Leroy Jr. and Sandra; a sister: Carol Bartelt ; a brother-in-law: Sonny Kallin; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.

Cremation has occurred at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Leroy will be laid to rest at a later date. Upon his wishes, there will be no funeral services.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home & All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
