Hilke, Georgiana J. (Pepi)

Georgiana J. (Pepi) Hilke, age 85, a resident at Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center, died on Friday evening, July 24, 2015 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

She was born on February 22, 1930 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Ralph and Alice (Kadow) Giese. Georgiana attended Manitowoc Lincoln High School graduating with the class of 1948. On October 27, 1941 she married Lester Hilke at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1985. Georgiana was a lifelong resident of Manitowoc. She was a member of the American Legion Drews Bleser Post #88 Women's Auxiliary and the Manitowoc Senior Center. Georgiana enjoyed puzzles, especially crosswords, playing yahtzee and cribbage. She looked forward to family gatherings and enjoyed tending her flower gardens. Georgiana loved working with children as a crossing guard for many years. They called her 'grandma'.

Survivors include five daughters and one son-in-law: Carol Herman, Milwaukee, Cynthia and Kenneth Ketz, Detroit, MI, Cheryl Kelm and fiancé Todd Niver, Milwaukee, Connie Pagels, Manitowoc, Cathy Wallander and special friend Rodney Rusch, Manitowoc; five grandchildren: Monica (Matthew) Jones, Tara (Primo) Reyes, Jennifer Hernandez, Jeffrey Kelm Jr. (special friend Stephanie Neisner), Kayla Kelm (special friend Aaron Lucht); 14 great grandchildren; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Eugene and Alice Hilke, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son-in-law: Gregory S. Wallander; one granddaughter: Megan Rea Hilke; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Gina and Elmer Vetter.

Cremation has taken place at All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, and Georgiana's cremated remains will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

The Pfeffer Funeral Home and All-Care Cremation Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you the entire staff at the Manitowoc Health Care Center in New Horizons and the staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, for all of the care and compassion shown to Georgiana.
