We do not know the exact birth, death or burial places for Great-great-grandparents James E. and Keziah Knustep Wallace. As for great-grandparents William and Levina Wallace, I have quite a bit of information from THE FEDERAL CENSUSES. I also created FIND A GRAVE Memorials for them in order to connect their families. I will continue to search for the information that is lacking. Maybe, someone in their past or distant relatives may know more.
1850
In the 1850 U.S. Federal Census, page 38 of 213, lines 6-11, we find Great-great-grandmother Keziah Knustep Wallace, age 55, with there daughter Mary Matilda Wallace Stokes, age 25, Mary's husband, Henry, age 30; children, Samuel, age 7; John, age 5; Lucinda, age 3; and her family in South Division, Surry County, N.C. There was no mention of her husband, 2nd great-grandfather in this Census, nor is he in the 1850 Census with their son, William. This Census list Henry as a farmer. Their Real Estate was worth $200. It is also 'marked' that Henry and Kesiah could not read.
1860
In the 1860 Census, it states Grandmother Keziah as a widow, living with her son William, age 27; his first wife Levina, my great-grandmother, age 25, (sometimes spelled Lavina or Lavinia) Wallace, their daughter Ella (Ellen), age 9 months, mother Keziah, age 60, (listed as age 55 in the 1850 census). She is a widow. William was a farmer. Their Personal Estate was $50.
1870
In the 1870 Census, page 1 of 14, she is still living with William and wife Lavina Wallace and her grandchildren. We know that they both were dead in 1885. It states this on their son William's Certificate of Marriage to his 2nd wife Sarah Ann Clersy Tucker Wallace.
Just a NOTE about where this Wallace family may have originated.
In mine and my older brother's Baby Books, my mother had written about this. My paternal grandmother Nancy Elizabeth Dolinger Wallace had told her that the Wallace's came from England. I was unable to find a direct connection concerning England. Their information concerning the place of birth, records states that they were born in North Carolina. I only found G-G-Grandfather, James E. Wallace's name in the 1885 Marriage Certificate of their son, William and his 2nd wife Sarah Tucker. They both were dead.
