WINSTON-SALEM ~ Virginia P. Cook, 94, of Winston-Salem passed away July 19, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was preceded in death by her parents James Carr Pinnix and Ada W. Wilson Pinnix; her husband Arthur M. Cook, Jr.; her son James A. Cook; her brothers Edward H. and Carlton Pinnix; and her sister Harriet Ellis. Her immediate survivors are her daughters Lois C. Wooten and husband Landon of Williamsburg, VA; Gena Chisholm and husband Fred Thomas of Lexington, NC; sisters Kathleen Jones of Norfolk, VA; Jane White and husband Raymond of Winston-Salem; brother David Pinnix and wife Barbara of Boone; grandchildren James (Jimmy) A. Cook, Jr. and wife Valerie; Lois Kim Wooten; Jody Dale Holbrook and wife Susan; Joseph A. Cook; great-grandchildren Silas and Sterlin Holbrook; sister-in-law Allison H. Cook; her aunt Irene Parham; and numerous nieces and nephews. She retired as a timekeeper from R. J. Reynolds after 25 years of service. She was a volunteer for many years with Meals on Wheels; and an active member of the First Christian Church of Winston-Salem. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church of Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends after the Memorial Service in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Winston-Salem, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
