15 Squadron Stirling Mark I W7624 was shot down 27/28 August 1942 over Delden, Holland. Glen Allen Smith 24, the second Kiwi on board, crawled dying from the crash and was buried soon afterwards alongside the unidentified bodies of two crew.
Three other remains were found when the Stirling was unearthed in May 2005, and were buried with full military honours at 11:30hrs on Thursday, 31th August in Ambt-Delden cemetery, Delden,
It was one of 30 planes lost in a raid on Germany on August 28, 1942.
