COLUMBIA - Cecil Voight “Whitey” Amick went to join his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 20, 2015.

Born May 23, 1932, in Prosperity, Cecil’s career spanned 33 years in fire service, retiring from the City of Columbia Fire Department in 1982 and the Columbia Metropolitan Airport in 1990.

He was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Shandon Masonic Lodge #370, Scottish Rites and Jamil Temple.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda Jeffcoat Amick; daughters, Rena Amick, Laura Edwards, Rebecca Hartner; son-in-law, Scott Martin Hartner; daughter-in-law Nydia Roldan, grandchildren, Rachel Nicole Hartner, Jake Martin Hartner, Haley Brianna Hartner; brothers, Seber Ray Amick and Vern Amick.

In addition to his parents, Seber and Minnie Amick he was predeceased by brothers, Odis Leroy Amick, Elbert Cornell Amick; and sisters, Ruby Amick Fulmer, Rosaline Shealy Ringer and Cleo Amick Wise.

Special thanks go to Dr. Fred Kudrik and his wonderful staff at SCOA.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
