"Along with Warren Caplinger and other string band musicians Andy recorded for several record labels beginning in 1928. Their records were released under a variety of names including Andy Patterson and the Dixie Harmonizers, Caplinger's Cumberland Mountain Entertainers, etc. Joined later by William Strickland they became known as Cap, Andy and Flip. The trio appeared on several West Virginia radio stations and made a few records on their own custom label before Strickland left in 1940. He was replaced by Andy's son Milton until the group disbanded in 1949."*
